Make-A-Wish for Max - December 2020

We are honored to announce the completion of Max’s Make-A-Wish roller hockey rink!

Max, who has a very rare heart condition that has required two open heart surgeries and will need lifelong monitoring, is a huge hockey fan. He has been playing hockey almost since he could walk and cheering on his older brother in the stands.

Unfortunately, due to his medical condition, Max hasn’t been cleared to continue playing in the local recreational league. Make-A-Wish Arizona decided to grant Max with his very own backyard rink.

General Acrylics couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make Max’s dreams come true.

Chinle High School - December 2019

General Acrylics is very proud to announce the reconstruction of the Chinle High School running track and synthetic turf football field has been completed.

Our scope involved converting an older asphalt running track into a new state-of-the-art post tensioned concrete running track (only the second of its kind in Arizona). This will provide peace of mind to the customer; after years of dealing with unstable soils that affected the planarity of the old running track.

Inside the running track the Chinle Wildcats now have a brand new AstroTurf synthetic turf field with Rootzone technology-proven to be safer for student athletes and reduces maintenance needs. The field was installed using a heavy 52 oz. face weight product, which adds durability and longevity.

Currently our work continues on the softball and baseball fields for CHS. Completion of both of those synthetic turf fields is slated for early 2020.

It has been a pleasure working with the entire Chinle USD/HS team as well as Green & Green Architects on this exciting project.

Prescott High School - October 2019

General Acrylics, along with AstroTurf, is very pleased to announce the completion of our project work at Prescott High School. The facility is currently being enjoyed by student athletes as well as the general public and the reviews have been phenomenal.

This facility has the proud distinction of being the first high school campus to have a post tensioned concrete running track constructed in the state of Arizona! In addition, the Prescott Badgers chose to have a blue polyurethane (rubberized all-weather surface) installed atop the new concrete construction to supplement mascot colors. This not only gives them an upgrade from the old latex system they previously had, but also makes it one of the few blue running track surfaces in the state of Arizona. This new application also utilizes a water-based structural spray, making it more environmentally friendly than traditional applications.

A new AstroTurf synthetic turf football/soccer field was installed within the track oval. It was constructed using a heavy-duty 60 oz. face weight product that comes with an extended warranty and includes state-of-the-art Rootzone technology which makes the field safer for student athletes (a top priority for both district and team) and reduces maintenance. For additional safety, a rubberized shock pad was installed underneath the synthetic turf system with the aim of further protecting against possible head traumas.

To protect this investment the district chose an annual maintenance plan with General Acrylics in addition to the regular grooming that they will perform in-house throughout the year. Almost one year after the board awarded this opportunity we can look back at this completed installation and say it is one of the most modern, safest, and cosmetically appealing installations in company history and we have received raving reviews from those that have seen and utilized the facility.

ASU Camp Tontozona - April 2019

Arizona State University’s newly reconstructed Camp Tontozona football training facility has been completed. The football camp is part of a nearly 60-year ASU tradition that started when coach Frank Kush first took the team up to Payson, Arizona in 1960. The camp’s unique name is a combination of “Tonto”, after the Tonto National Forest that flanks the camp, and “Zona” for Arizona. The camp serves as a season kickoff of sorts, to foster bonding and preparation for the months ahead. A sense of excitement vibrates around camp, as it signals the beginning of the new season.

General Acrylics constructed the new state-of-the-art field using an AstroTurf premium synthetic turf system. In the past the team had to relocate and even cancel practices due to flooding and inclement weather. The new AstroTurf system reduces the chances of flooding, and provides a more predictable playing surface to maintain routine practice schedules at the camp.

Camp is scheduled to commence August 3rd and concludes on the 10th. The 2019 season kick off takes place on August 29th when the Sun Devil’s host Kent State.

ASU Camp Tontozona - April 2018

General Acrylics has been awarded a new synthetic turf project at ASU Camp Tontozona in Payson, Arizona. After years of having their annual training camp schedule affected by seasonal monsoon rains, ASU (thru their general contractor, Brycon) made the proactive decision to have synthetic turf installed at Camp Tontozona. The product selected was the Astroturf 3D3-52 with state of the art Astroflect and Rootzone technology. In addition, the new field will have a Brock shock pad installed beneath the turf, which will provide added safety for all student athletes.

Bradshaw Mountain High School - April 2018

General Acrylics is awarded the replacement of existing synthetic turf on the baseball infield and the football field at Bradshaw Mountain High School in Prescott Valley, Arizona.

ADM architects, along with the Humboldt Unified School District and Bradshaw Mountain High School staff awarded General Acrylics/Astroturf this exciting opportunity in the spring of 2018. The replacement of the existing synthetic turf fields (competitor’s fields that did not meet life expectancies) was requested to start immediately after the award announcement and had a very short duration allowed for completion. We are very proud that the deadline was met and that the entire process exceeded the customer’s expectations. The system that was chosen for the football/soccer field was a 10 year warranty product (called Astroturf 3D3-60 “Decade”)….in addition to a heavy face weight (60 ounces), this product has the state of the art Astroflect and Rootzone technology included as well.

The baseball infield and apron were completed with our innovative Astroturf Diamond Series baseball products that have varying pile heights and face weights to simulate real grass and real dirt and included extra durable turf in the batters boxes (90 ounce face weight) with removable Velcro inserts so that the panels can be replaced when heavily worn.

Check out the colorful logos installed on both of these fields, very impressive!

Skyview High School - June 2017

General Acrylics is awarded the reconstruction of the running track and replacing of the natural grass with synthetic turf on the football field at Skyview High School in Thornton, Colorado.

General Acrylics and Astroturf proudly reconstructed the running track and the football/soccer field for Skyview HS. This site had many challenges throughout the construction process, but in the end, the school, the district and the community are all very pleased and proud of their updated sports facilities. There were existing poor soil conditions and drainage concerns that we had to design build/engineer before mobilizing and once again when we encountered substandard subgrade conditions during construction. In addition, the running track was sloping from the inside lane to the outside lane and therefore we reconstructed the slope to allow for proper drainage (outside lanes to inside lanes). These are the types of scopes we take a lot of pride in: where we can resolve pre-existing concerns and create a safe and well-built product at completion!

Skyview HS now has a new all-weather polyurethane running track system installed as well a durable 52 ounce Astroturf synthetic turf field system that has an awesome mid field logo!! In addition to the track and field at the stadium, there was also a 100’ x 60’ area of new Astroturf synthetic turf that we installed for multi-purpose use on campus.

Orange Grove Middle School - May 2017

General Acrylics is awarded the construction of four (4) tennis/basketball courts at Orange Grove Middle School in Tucson, Arizona.

The Catalina Foothills School District and Concord General Contracting awarded this exciting opportunity to General Acrylics in May of 2017. The existing asphalt courts were completely removed and were rebuilt in post tension concrete construction. This method of construction will allow for years of enjoyment by the school and the district without the added expense and safety concerns of repetitive court cracking, as they previously had for years with asphalt construction.

The courts were surfaced with Gameco coatings and new equipment was installed as well. These courts are gorgeous and are already getting a lot more use for tennis, basketball, phys. ed and more!

Sun City Festival - April 2017

General Acrylics has completed the construction of 16 brand new pickleball courts for the Sun City Festival Pickleball Complex located in Buckeye, Arizona. St Johns High School - March 2017

General Acrylics is awarded the removal and replacement of the running track at St. Johns High School in St. Johns, Arizona.

After many years of discussions and planning, St Johns HS awarded the reconstruction of the running track to GA in 2017. Existing poor soil conditions and drainage concerns made this a challenging scope to complete but a rewarding one in the end as the school can now hold competitive meets at the facility once again. Many of the field events were relocated from the sidelines to the newly constructed D areas, adding safer and more convenient layout for student athletes. The school is extremely pleased with the final product and we are very proud of the way the design turned out.

Las Cruces High School - October 2016

General Acrylics has been awarded the tennis and basketball court construction at the new Las Cruces High School in New Mexico.

Window Rock High School - September 2016

General Acrylics is awarded the conversion of the baseball field and the softball field to synthetic turf at Window Rock High School in Ft. Defiance, Arizona.

To fully appreciate the finished product at Window Rock High School, one would have to view the “before” photos of this site to understand what was involved to complete the scope. Not only was the baseball field transformed from nothing more than dirt and weeds to the synthetic showcase it is now, but the entire orientation of the field had been changed as well. Home plate used to be located where the right field foul pole is now. In order to reconstruct the site with the new layout/configuration, General Acrylics had a tremendous amount of earth work involved with demo/export and new material import/installation. In addition we designed and installed a new drainage system, installed new chain link fence, built new dugouts, installed foul poles and more. This field not only looks great but it includes the Diamond Series turf system by Astroturf. This system has varying pile heights to emulate infield areas and grass areas, similar to natural baseball fields. The Diamond series also has many special features that not only makes it the safest product in baseball but also provides decreased maintenance with the patented “Rootzone” technology that encapsulates the infill…reducing migration/maintenance concerns. This field is truly one of the very best baseball fields you will find in Northern AZ.

Just down the road from the baseball facility, you will find the Window Rock HS softball field that General Acrylics installed. Much like the baseball field mentioned above, the softball field is proudly constructed with the Astroturf Diamond Series products and comes with all the features mentioned above (and more)! During construction, we worked with and listened to the softball coach, to make sure the infill ratios (sand and rubber) were designed not only with manufacturer’s recommendations but also specific to the type of team he was placing on the field (a fast/speedy team…so we adjusted the installation rates accordingly)! These fields are getting compliments often from not only the WRHS student athletes, but from opposing players and coaches as well. A must see when you are in the area!

Cactus High School - August 2016

General Acrylics has officially completed the tennis court reconstruction at Cactus High School (part of Arizona’s Peoria School District. The old courts had been mis-constructed and were badly cracked and holding water–making them unsafe for play. General Acrylics redesigned the courts and utilized post-tensioned concrete in the reconstruction.

Garry Berry Stadium - May 2016

General Acrylics is awarded the installation of turf at the soccer/lacrosse field at Garry Berry Stadium in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The District 11 school district in Colorado Springs, CO has been enjoying an Astroturf synthetic football field for several years. In the summer of 2016, they hired General Acrylics once again to install a new Astroturf soccer/lacrosse field alongside the football field at Garry Berry Stadium. The project was a huge success and included not only the new soccer field installation but many supplemental scopes that improved the overall athletic facility for the school and district. General Acrylics, along with local architects and engineers, designed a state of the art facility that now includes improvements to the track and field events as well (shot put and discus events are now in close proximity, making it more user friendly for spectators and athletes). In order to get the soccer field and throwing events within the NFHS and ASBA requirements, there were many modifications made during the construction phase to meet proper tolerances/slopes and to make sure drainage was functional. Although a very challenging scope from start to finish, the end result is gorgeous and we couldn’t be prouder of this installation! There are several areas where landscape turf was installed too (including a pedestrian viewing hill) and we even installed new chain link fence and decorative retaining walls. This one truly showcased all of our abilities.

Four Peaks Park - May 2016

General Acrylics was awarded the replacement of two (2) asphalt tennis courts with new post tension tennis courts at Four Peaks Park in Fountain Hills, Arizona as well as the replacement of four (4) asphalt tennis courts with new post tension tennis courts at Golden Eagle Park in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

The Town of Fountain Hills, AZ awarded post tension concrete construction scopes at two (2) of their community parks to General Acrylics. Years ago, asphalt tennis courts were the basis for design in the industry…it was the norm for court construction. Over the years, as many industries have seen the benefits of post tension concrete construction, so too, has the sports facility industry. The new norm for building courts is post tension concrete and the Town of Fountain Hills now proudly has 2 parks that showcase this technology. Four Peaks and Golden Eagle Park were reconstructed in the summer of 2016 and the community couldn’t be more pleased. The ball bounce is improved, the cracks that were in the old asphalt courts are gone and the town now has the peace of mind that these courts are constructed to last for decades and beyond! These two tennis facilities are spectacular and the courts are open and ready for play! Next time you get a chance to visit scenic Fountain Hills stop on by and check these courts out!

Thunderbird High School - March 2016

General Acrylics is awarded the track reconstruction project at Thunderbird High School in Phoenix, Arizona.

Glendale Union High School District awards General Acrylics a contract to reconstruct the Carl Riney Track at Thunderbird High School. In addition to replacing the concrete curbs, the asphalt base and all-weather track surface, there were many modifications made as well, such as….slightly widening the track along the home straight away to improve athlete safety; adding a new concrete gutter at the D area of the track to improve drainage.

ASBA - April 2015

Jonnie was one of the builders presenting a training session regarding the construction of post-tensioned concrete tennis court slabs.

Yavapai Community College - December 2014

General Acrylics is pleased to announce the completion of the tennis court facility renovation and expansion at Yavapai Community College is Prescott, AZ. The tennis facility is used extensively by the college, high school and community at large. The 6 courts had deteriorated and exhibited large cracks and settled areas.

General Acrylics rebuilt the existing 6 courts and added a 7th. They are constructed with post-tensioned concrete to provide a crack resistant and extremely durable court. New fencing, professional lighting, retaining walls and landscaping were part of the renovation project.

As quality of work, experience and the ability to use pre-bid and awarded pricing were a priority, the College chose to contract with General Acrylics through Mojave Educational Services.
