Chinle High School — December 2019
General Acrylics is proud to report that the rebuilt Chinle High School running track and synthetic turf football field are now complete. Our team transformed an aging asphalt track into a modern post-tensioned concrete track — only the second of its kind in Arizona. This gives the customer confidence after years of unstable soils that disrupted the flatness of the old track.
Inside the oval, the Chinle Wildcats now play on a brand-new AstroTurf synthetic field with Rootzone technology, shown to be safer for student athletes and to reduce maintenance needs. The field was installed with a heavy 52 oz. face weight product for added durability and longevity. Work continues on the CHS softball and baseball fields, with both synthetic turf fields slated for completion in early 2020. It has been a pleasure collaborating with the entire Chinle USD/HS team and Green & Green Architects on this exciting project.
Prescott High School — October 2019
General Acrylics, together with AstroTurf, is pleased to announce completion of our project work at Prescott High School. Student athletes and the general public are already enjoying the facility, and feedback has been outstanding. This site holds the distinction of being the first high school campus in Arizona to feature a post-tensioned concrete running track.
The Prescott Badgers also chose a blue polyurethane all-weather rubberized surface atop the new concrete to complement their mascot colors — an upgrade from the previous latex system and one of the few blue track surfaces in the state. The application uses a water-based structural spray, making it more environmentally friendly than traditional methods. A new AstroTurf synthetic football/soccer field was installed within the track oval, built with a heavy-duty 60 oz. face weight product backed by an extended warranty and featuring Rootzone technology for safer play and lower maintenance. A rubberized shock pad beneath the turf system adds further protection against possible head traumas. To safeguard the investment, the district selected an annual maintenance plan with General Acrylics alongside regular in-house grooming.
Nearly a year after the board awarded the opportunity, we can look back on one of the most modern, safest, and most visually appealing installations in company history, with rave reviews from everyone who has seen and used the facility.

Liberty Field 360° ViewASU Camp Tontozona — April 2019
Arizona State University’s newly reconstructed Camp Tontozona football training facility is complete. The camp is part of a nearly 60-year ASU tradition that began when coach Frank Kush first took the team to Payson, Arizona in 1960. Its unique name combines “Tonto,” after the Tonto National Forest flanking the camp, and “Zona” for Arizona. The camp serves as a season kickoff of sorts, fostering bonding and preparation for the months ahead, with excitement building as it signals the start of a new season.
General Acrylics constructed the new state-of-the-art field using an AstroTurf premium synthetic turf system. Previously the team had to relocate and even cancel practices due to flooding and inclement weather. The new AstroTurf system reduces the chances of flooding and provides a more predictable playing surface to keep practice schedules on track at camp. Camp is scheduled to begin August 3rd and conclude on the 10th, with the 2019 season kicking off August 29th when the Sun Devils host Kent State.
